Scripture: Matthew 26:39
“Not as I will, but as You will.”
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus shows us what sincere prayer looks like. Honest desires are brought to God and placed in His hands with trust.
One of the many powerful things prayer does is bring alignment. As we pray, our hearts slowly shift toward what God desires. We begin to want what He wants.
And if our hearts don't quite yet line up with His, we can ask God to tender our hearts, thoughts, and desires toward His. It won't just happen 'by accident'.
To be clear, prayer isn’t pretending we don’t have preferences. It’s choosing to trust God’s will above our own.
What once felt hard begins to feel possible. What once felt impossible is placed in God’s faithful hands.
This kind of prayer isn’t weak. It’s deeply faithful. It says, "I trust God’s wisdom more than my own understanding, and I trust His plans more than my fears."
APPLICATION Today, become vulnerable with your Heavenly Father, and bring your desires to Him honestly. Then let them go and commit to listening to the heart of the Father, and to following and trusting Him moment-by-moment.
PRAYER
Father, I'm learning to pray the prayer of Jesus in the garden: "not my will, but Yours be done." Will You help me walk this out, and align my heart with Your purposes so I can trust You fully today? Thank You for Your faithfulness!
In Jesus' name I pray~ Amen!
FEATURED WORSHIP
